Zuma and his entourage‚ including Home Affairs minister Malusi Gigaba‚ arrived at the ANC headquarters to unveil the election countdown clock.

‘ANC needs defending’ inscribed on makeshift machine gun sets tone for youth rally
His die-hard supporters chanted "Zuma Zuma" when the president made his appearance.

And despite battling the ‘flu‚ Zuma did not disappoint when he took to the makeshift stage to sing and dance.

The crowd joined in when he began performing “umshini wami” (bring me my machine gun).

He told the crowd before his performance that the ANC meant business.

"People can say what they want but we are working to correct what the apartheid government did.”

He said he was impressed to see young women sporting ANC headscarves. Zuma said it was a symbol of respect.

He is expected to address young supporters at the ANC Youth League’s rally at King's Park Stadium this afternoon.
