Cassper: I'm tired of hearing bullsh*t about SA people I looked up to

Taking to a Facebook Live chat earlier this week, Cassper spoke about his admiration for popular radio personality and businessman DJ Sbu and said he was tired of "hearing bullsh*t" about him.

"I look up to DJ Sbu. He is my role model. That guy has done so many things that inspired me as a kid from the hood, that had nothing. The reason why I have my own record label is because DJ Sbu had his own record label... they sold so many gold albums. I thought about it. I was in the hood.'I can do it'. Today I have my own record label. I am my own boss," he said.

"The way we drag each other down as South Africans. As black kids we need to be holding and motivating each other. We could do so many other things," he added.

Celebrating a BET win with Black Coffee

Fast forward several years and Cassper has found motivation in the example of Black Coffee.

Cassper said he joined Black Coffee on stage at the BET Awards over the weekend because, for him, the DJ's win was a win for the whole of South Africa.

Cassper added that he doesn't care what people say about him because he is "an inspiration" to his hood.

"People know that I come from nothing and today I'm something. Not only am I something, I'm the best at what I do. I'm the biggest at what I do, bro," he said.
